India’s Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd on Tuesday said it would set up an agro-machinery assembling plant in Bangladesh due to the latter’s potential in growing farm mechanisation.
Besides, the company is also interested in creating trained manpower to make use of such farm equipment popular, as well as to facilitate maintenance to marginal level in Bangladesh.
Mahindra and Mahindra Limited Managing Director and CEO Pawan Kumar Goenka revealed it at a virtual conference with the Agriculture Minister of Bangladesh Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, said a release.
The meeting was a continuation of the 'Digital Conference on India-Bangladesh Cooperation in Agriculture' held in December last.
Additional Secretaries of the Agri Ministry Md Hasanuzzaman Kallol, Md Abdur Rauf, Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Md Saidul Islam, Farm Equipment Sector President of Mahindra and Mahindra Hemant Sikka and its Bangladesh Country Head Robin Kumar Das was also present, among others.
