Lafarge Surma Cement has agreed to acquire Holcim Bangladesh for Tk 5.05 billion, a price set by the Bangladesh Bank.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange or DSE said on Sunday that the company has informed them that it has empowered the chief executive officer to complete the deal.

According to the DSE web post, the Bangladesh Bank approved the acquisition for Tk 5.05 billion on Sep 17 this year.
In August, Lafarge Surma sought the central bank’s approval to remit Tk 9.5 billion to the Netherlands for completing the processing of buying Holcim shares.

But the Bangladesh Bank said the deal overvalued Holcim shares and fixed the acquisition for Tk 5.05 billion.

A bdnews24 reported after waiting for three months, Lafarge Surma said on Sunday that they will close the deal in line with the central bank’s decision.

Share of Lafarge Surma rose by 9.94 per cent by midday to trade at Tk 59.70 at DSE.
