South Korea is willing to provide technical support to Bangladesh for reducing the country's urban traffic congestion.
President of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Lee Mi-kyung, who is now on her first visit to Dhaka, has expressed her organisation's interest in supporting Bangladesh for this.
"KOICA is interested to help us in enhancing our traffic management system," finance minister A H M Mustafa Kamal told reporters after a meeting with the KOICA president on Monday.
"At the same time, the KOICA president has pledged to ask the South Korean companies to invest in Bangladesh," he said.
Mr. Kamal noted there are "significant" investment opportunities for South Korean giants like Samsung, LG, and Hyundai to invest in Bangladesh.
Speaking during the briefing, the KOICA president thanked the government and the country for hosting almost a million Rahingya refugees.
KOICA, which is the international development arm of the South Korean government, started its journey in Bangladesh back in 1993.
So far, it has provided a total of US$57 million to Bangladesh for implementing a total of 24 projects.
Meanwhile, eight more projects worth US$ 55 million are currently being implemented with KOICA funding.
