CHITTAGONG, Feb 4: The Chittagong Regional Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) organised a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) on 'Knowledge Management: A Strategic and Dynamic Tool for Success' in the port city on Saturday.
Chaired by former president of the ICAB Showkat Hossain, Editor of the Daily Azadi MA Malek attended the seminar as the chief guest while ICAB's Vice-president Modasser Ahmed Siddique FCA addressed the programme as the special guest.
Director of Rupali Bank and Professor of Accounting of University of Chittagong Dr Md Salim Uddin FCMA FCA presented the keynote paper.
Dr Salim Uddin said today, knowledge is a power that factors in accomplishing great things. The more knowledge is earned by a person, the more powerful he becomes, he said.
He explained different aspects of the Knowledge Management (KM), including knowledge dimensions, types, framework, process, benefits, and implementing KM for identifying knowledge management as a strategic and dynamic tool for sustainable high performance and ultimate success.
He observed that intensive efforts are being made to generate new knowledge, resulting in faster innovation, sophistication of products and services and their supply and demand which are deeply changing public life.
For these reasons, organisational activities as well as business processes have become more dynamic, strategic and competitive than ever before, he said.
"The new ideas, new knowledge and technologies have contributed to a fast changing environment and thus, knowledge is a precondition for success," he said.
In pursuit of knowledge excellence, organisations are, and always will be, as valuable as their knowledge and ideas, and most critically, their ability to transform their knowledge and ideas into valuable and successful competencies, products and services, he added.
MA Malek voiced concern about the possibility of a large number of manpower becoming unemployed after introduction of ultra-modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D tech and internet. He also expressed concern about management of a huge unemployed manpower following such changes.
