Mikhael Engineering Construction Limited, a concern of Khan Bahadur Group will implement a project on maritime distress and navigation systems funded by the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF), Exim Bank of Korea, said a statement.
The project will make the maritime system digital and improve vessels traffic management resulting in lesser vessels accidents in Bangladesh.
Successful completion of Establishment of Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS)and Integrated Maritime Navigation Systems(EGIMNS) project will fulfill the obligations of United Nations Convention on the law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and International Maritime Convention Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).
Project will benefit the industry by establishing and operating the shore-based facility on maritime safety, Security and also by improving navigation aids and communication system including command and control center.
It will modernize vessels traffic management, enhance maritime security and surveillance and also to modernize existing light house and build new light houses.
The project under the funding of Bangladesh and Korean government will work in Agargoan-Dhaka, Dublar Char, Kuakata, Dal Char, Nizhum Dwip, Kutibdia, Cox’s Bazar Sadar and Saint Martin upto November 2019.
In addition to Mikhael Engineering Construction Limited, two foreign companies- LGCNS and Samhee- will also work in this project.
