Jute fair gets two-day extension

The fair witnessed the selling of Tk 30m jute products in three days

The three-day jute fair titled ‘Diversified Jute Goods Fair 2018’ has been extended to till Saturday considering huge enthusiasm from the jute entrepreneurs and buyers in the jute products.

The fair scheduled to end on Thursday, but witnessing the huge response from the people and the common buyers in diversified jute products, the government extended it to two more days.

In last three days, the fair witnessed the selling of Tk 30 million jute products and Tk 50 million spot orders on various diversified jute items, reports BSS.

Textile and Jute Ministry organised the fair, at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital, from March 6 to 8 to celebrate the National Jute Day on March 6.

A total of 100 entrepreneurs are displaying various diversified jute products at 70 stalls on the fair premises, the report said.

Textile and Jute Minister M Imazuddin Pramanik said colourful celebration of the national jute day this year drew huge attention of the countrymen towards jute and jute products.

"Observing the number of spectators at the fair in the last three days and as well as considering the plea of jute entrepreneurs, we have decided to extend the fair for another two more days," he added.

The minister called upon all to work along with the government from their respective positions for making the use of jute and jute products more popular at home and abroad.

Pramanik said this at the scheduled closing ceremony of the fair on Thursday night.

Along with the minister, textiles and Jute Secretary Faizur Rahman and heads of different organisations under the textiles and jute ministry were also present on the occasion.
