A parliamentary standing committee on Thursday asked the local government engineering department (LGED) to settle eight audit objections of the audit report of 2004-2013 on professional fee involving Tk 1.48 billion.
The JS body on public accounts suggested settling the audit objections within next seven days and submitting documents on the loss incurred, as the department did not deposit the money taken as professional fee and the bank interest on it.
The recommendations were made at the 81st meeting of the committee held at the Parliament Bhaban, with committee chairman Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir in the chair.
The committee also asked LGED to settle the audit objections involving Tk 116 million, which was used to buy three cars, within next 15 days.
The committee also asked LGED to settle the audit objections involving Tk 481 million, which was taken from the professional fee and spent on salaries and others for the unapproved manpower.
Besides, the committee suggested settling audit objections on the revenue loss of Tk 489 million, as LGED collected less VAT and income tax from the bill of the consultants, printing and suppliers, car repairer and interior company.
The committee also asked LGED to settle the audit objections involving Tk 103 million taken as professional fee and used for office building construction, purchase of passenger lift and installation of generator.
