JCI Bangladesh recognises 13 inspirational women

JCI Bangladesh has recognised contributions and achievements of 13 inspirational women leaders of Bangladesh with ‘Woman of Inspiration Award 2021’.

The women leaders received the award during a ceremony on Saturday at a hotel in Dhaka marking International Women's Day of this year, according to a press release.

JCI Bangladesh conceptualised the programme and recognised women's achievements by providing the award on the basis of this year’s theme for International Women's Day, ‘Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world’.

The press release said, this award was given to honour the extraordinary women who lead by example, live on purpose and inspires others to excel; the women who have been valiant warriors of smashing stereotypes and other areas of success.

The categories of the award were entrepreneurship, banking, legal affairs, business innovation, medical innovation, defense, art and culture, fashion and beauty, media, corporate leadership, etc.

This year, the awards recognised Masuma Rahman Nabila, Nahita Nishmin, Nasima Akter Nisha, Preema Nazia Andalib, Farhana Rafiq Uzzaman, Advocate Nahid Sultana (Juthi), Barrister Rashna Imam, Rukhmila Zaman, Dr. Senjuti Saha, Sanjida Haq Arefin Luna, Shamima Nasrin, Tina F. Jabeen, Colonel Dr. Zebun Nahar for their magnificent display of finesse and irrefutable success in their respective fields.

Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury virtually joined the event as chief guest.

Lawmaker from Munshiganj-2 constituency Sagufta Yasmin Emily, Prime minister’s special assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad and US embassy’s deputy chief of mission JoAnne Wagner were also present as guests.

The programme was hosted by JCI Bangladesh’s national president Niaz Morshed Elite.

JCI Bangladesh's national officers, local presidents, members, business leaders, diplomats, government officials, and other dignitaries were also present at the event.

In her speech, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been named among the top three inspirational women leaders who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership during Covid-19 pandemic in the Commonwealth. Women achieved positive changes and are an active part of it.”

“I firmly believe such an extraordinary initiative and out of the box thinking by JCI Bangladesh will inspire more women, particularly younger women and girls, to break the barriers," she added.

Woman of Inspiration Award 2021 winner Barrister Rashna Imam mentioned, "I am very humbled to receive this award and to be considered as worthy as fellow awardees. Deeply gratitude to JCI Bangladesh for organising this spectacular event."

JCI is a nonprofit global organisation of young active citizens from age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of the world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society. The organisation currently has 18 Local Chapters with around 1000 members.
