A technical team, led by DNCRP, will visit leading FMCG companies' factories amid the rocketing trend of many personal care toiletries products.

The team, comprising the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP), BTTC, ICMAB, will go to the factories which could help get logical reasons for price surge of such products which witnessed 35 to 50 per cent increase recent months, said officials.

It was revealed at the view-exchange meeting on the growing concern over rising prices of soap, detergent, toothpaste and other personal care toiletries, held at DNCRP conference room with presence of FMCGs like Unilever, Square, Kallol Group, ACI and the media.

DNCRP Director General AHM Safiquzzaman presided over the programme.

The directorate organised the meeting amid the growing concern of the consumers as soap prices increased by 35 to 50 per cent in the last three to four months.

Toothpastes, detergent, shampoo and other hygienic products which are now considered as daily essentials have also increased by the same margins, according to the groceries and CAB.

FMCG officials said costs of raw materials have increased significantly in last one year which forced them to review the prices.

DNCRP Head said a technical team will be formed in a no time involving the Directorate, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission (BTTC), Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) which will visit factories of the companies.

The companies also appreciated the DNCRP move promising their logical supports to the team.
