Top mobile telephony firm GrameenPhone has the highest call drop rate and call set up time among the country's telecom operators, according to an official survey.
The call drop rate and call set up time of GP were 3.38 per cent and 10.14 seconds respectively, revealed the survey conducted by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.
The survey was carried out from November 06 through December 08, 2018.
On the other hand, call drop rates of Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk were 0.58 per cent, 1.35 per cent, 1.58 per cent respectively, the survey found.
The standard ceiling of call drop rate is up to 2 per cent.
Call set up time of Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk was 7.69 seconds, 6.15 seconds and 7.11 seconds respectively.
The maximum standard for set up time is 7.0 seconds only.
Banglalink topped in call setup success rates, scoring 99.82 per cent, while Teletalk 99.12 per cent, Grameen Phone 99.04 per cent and Robi 97.89 per cent.
Standard call setup success rate set by the regulator is 97 per cent.
The BTRC conducted comprehensive quality of services (QoS) measurement through drive test in different locations of Dhaka city from 06 November 2018 to 08 December2018.
As per regulation 6 (lXb) of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (ANS Operator's Quality of Service) Regulations, 2018, the BTRC published the test results of Dhaka City on its website.
Drive test allowed the commission to check whether the mobile phone operators were complying with the BTRC-issued standards on quality of services in operating 2G and 3G services.
