The government along with private stakeholders will inspect factories across the country to identify problems for ensuring workplace safety.

Involving FBCCI, BGMEA, BKMEA and other sector-specific associations, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) under the Prime Minister Office (PMO) will lead the inspection.

The coordinated move comes following a series of industrial incidents that overshadows the image of the country's industrial practices overseas.

FBCCI on Wednesday shared the development at a virtual briefing where a checklist of the activities in detail was highlighted among the stakeholders.

A total of 138 inspection teams will be engaged in the special workplace safety and structural safety measures.

In a video message, FBCCI president called upon the industrialists to cooperate in the activities.

He said the inspection will not cause any damage to the factory owners rather it will only address the workplace-related problems.

"We can make a remedial plan to avert such incidents. We will not conduct any drive to punish anyone," he added.

Chemical industries, plastic, light engineering, food, packaging and paper, printing and leather sectors will be prioritised in the inspection.
