Govt sets sugar prices to keep market stable

The government has fixed the prices of sugar to contain the soaring prices of such sweetener in the market.

The price of packed sugar has been fixed at Tk 75 per kg.

Besides, the price of loose sugar has been fixed at Tk 74 per kg.

The new rate will take effect from today (Thursday), said a senior official of the commerce ministry.

The decision came at a meeting between the commerce ministry and the country’s sugar refiners held at the ministry on Thursday.
