Mismanagement across the country in fertiliser supply has prompted the government to open a control room to monitor the fertiliser condition in the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday set up the control room or 'Cell' which will remain open for the public to make contact regarding any issues related to fertiliser supply from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm every day, an official statement said.
The cell will run its activities with the coordination of the officials of the ministry and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).
The contacts and phone numbers of officials in charge of the control room are: Deputy Secretary Sheikh Badiul Alam--01713593487, Research Officer Md Nurannabi-- 01716462277, Deputy Director of DAE (fertiliser) Aminul Islam--01724245354 and Additional Deputy Director Khandkar Rashed Iftekhar --01814 947054.
A request has been made to send a message on WhatsApp in case of a phone caller finds the above-mentioned numbers busy, said the agriculture ministry's release.
The release claimed that now the country's fertiliser stocks are sufficient which will remain so until October of the Aman farming season.
At present, the country has stocks of 0.656 million tonnes of Urea, 0.394 million tonnes of TSP, 0.823 million tonnes of DAP and 0.273 million tonnes of MOP against demands for 0.619 million tonnes (Urea), 0. 119 million tonnes (TSP), 0.225 million tonnes (DAP) and 0.137 million tonnes (MOP) respectively.
