Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim on Friday disclosed a plan to form a joint venture with the private sector to bring the price of eggs within the purchasing power of the people.
Terming that eggs are one of the most nutritious foods, the minister stressed increasing egg production and making it available throughout the country.
The minister came up with the statement while addressing a discussion at a city hotel marking World Egg Day.
The event was organised jointly by the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), specialised agency of the United Nations, World Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh chapter and Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC).
At that time, the minister said the livestock sector made tremendous development compared to the neighbouring countries as the incumbent government has given a lot of patronage for the development of this sector.
The minister further said the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock is working to solve the problems of the poultry sector.
