The new season's first sale went off well with strong participation from the Internal Loose tea buyers as well as fair activity from the Blenders. Buyers were competing strongly for well made and good liquoring teas which appreciated with quality. The average for this sale is higher by Tk.10.62 than in Sale 01 last year, said a statement.
CTC Leaf: As many as 21,030 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met a fairly strong demand.
BROKENS: BOPs met with a strong demand and generally sold at slightly higher than Brokers' price idea. Smaller varieties also witnessed strong competition and were mostly dearer. Plain types met with a fair demand but prices sometimes eased a little with a few withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Well made good Fannings met with strong competition and were dearer following quality often by Taka 2 to Taka 3 whilst Medium varieties sold at slightly easier rates. Plain varieties followed a similar trend. However, there were a few withdrawals in this category.
CTC DUST: As many as 3,781 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with a good demand. Good liquoring CDs were a strong feature of the sale and sold higher than Brokers' valuations. Good liquoring Dusts were also a strong market selling around Brokers' valuations. Others met with a fair demand and generally sold around Tk 5 to Tk 10 below valuation with a few withdrawals Both Blenders and Loose Tea buyers lent strong support.
CDs were a strong feature of the sale.
