Gold prices edge down

Local jewellers have revised gold prices downward in line with the international market price.

The new price will be effective from today (Thursday), according to a statement by Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BJS).

As per new rates, the price of a gram of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 4,270, down from Tk 4,370.

A gram of 21-carat gold would now cost Tk 4,075, down from Tk 4,175.

The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 3,640 per gram, down from Tk 3,740.

However, the price of one gram of traditional gold (Sanatani) has been increased by Tk 100 to Tk 2,365.

Silver prices, however, remained unchanged at Tk 90 per gram.

According to the traditional measure, the price of one Bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold would be Tk 49,805.

Earlier, the BJS had revised the gold prices on March 19.
