Germany has offered a new instrument of development cooperation dubbed ‘Climate and Development Partnership’ to Bangladesh, said Achim Troster, German Ambassador in Dhaka on Wednesday.
“This is a stepping up of already existing cooperation in the area of climate change and renewable energy,” he said, adding if the Government of Bangladesh responds positively, his country will send the draft of the instrument.
Several projects will be undertaken under this instrument mainly in the area of renewable energy, the ambassador said, noting that this format can really be a model for development cooperation for other countries.
Mr Troster was addressing the DCAB Talks, organised by the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Bangladesh in the capital.
The German ambassador said his country’s bilateral trade with Bangladesh stands at nearly US$6.0 billion and the trade balance is very much in favour of Bangladesh.
He also mentioned that a high profile delegation of German investors is expected to visit Bangladesh soon.
