The German business community in Bangladesh and the Germany Embassy in Dhaka have jointly agreed to establish the German Business Council (GBC), a platform for the German businesses in Bangladesh.

The group will also take the lead to strengthen business relationship between the two countries, reports UNB.

The decision has been taken after a meeting between German Ambassador Dr Thomas Prinz and representatives of reputed German companies in Bangladesh held in Dhaka recently, said the embassy on Wednesday.

Siemens Bangladesh CEO Prabal Bose, Country Manager of DHL Nooruddin Chowdhury, Managing Director of BASF Sazzadul Hassan, Country Representative of Commerz Bank Tawfiq Ali, CEO of Fichtner GmbH Thomas Holzapfel, and Head of Finance of Bayer Crop Science Syed Sarwar Moorshid were present at the embassy during the covenant for establishment of the new GBC.

The embassy said GBC is the result of initiatives by German private companies in Bangladesh and the aims of the group are to encourage investment in Bangladesh, as well as to provide a social environment for business networking for the German companies.

To support the growth of German businesses in this country, it said, GBC will organise business networking events and will connect businesses with each other.

This group will also take the lead to strengthen business relationship between Bangladesh and Germany, it said.

GBC and German Embassy will meet on a regular basis to exchange views and to organise mutual support.
