A four-day trade show on garment accessories and packaging products, known as 'GAPEXPO', has started at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the event on Wednesday.
The Bangladesh Garments Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) Zakaria Trade and Fair International and ASK Trade and Exhibition Pvt Ltd are organising the fair jointly.
The organisers are aiming to introduce the sector people with latest machinery and technology to help product diversification and value addition through this event.
They said about 450 companies from more than 24 countries including India, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and US displaying their products related to garment accessories, packaging and related machinery.
The show also displaying machinery and technology related to apparel printing following the rising demand of the fast growing segment offering scope for product diversification and value addition.
Exporters Association of Bangladesh (EAB) Abdus Salam Murshedy, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Md Siddiqur Rahman, BGAPMEA president Abdul Kader Khan and Ask Trade and Exhibition director Nanda Gopal, among others, were also present at the opening ceremony.
