Four concurrent shows on readymade garments (RMG) kicked off in the city on Thursday to offer complete sourcing platform for the makers of the product under one roof.
The four shows are on yarn, fabric, accessories, printing and packaging and their related machineries.
The shows are the 18th edition of GARMENTECH Bangladesh 2019, 10th edition of International Yarn and Fabrics Sourcing Fair 2019, 10th edition of GAP Expo 2019 and second edition of Bangladesh Printing and Packaging Expo 2019.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun inaugurated the shows at the International Convention City, Bashundhara.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) president Abdul Kader Khan, its former president Rafez Alam Chowdhury, among others, were present at the launching event.
BGAPMEA, Zakaria Trade and Fair International and ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd have jointly organised the shows.
A total of 510 companies from more than 24 countries including China, India, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Italy, USA, UK and Germany are displaying their products at the shows.
The latest sewing, knitting, embroidery, laundry, finishing, dyeing, CAD/CAM, printing, cutting, spreading machinery from leading companies from across the world are displaying at the GARMENTECH.
The International Yarn and Fabrics Sourcing Fair have the latest collection of natural and synthetic yarn and fabric and its blends both for woven and knit sectors being showcased by overseas companies.
The largest collection of garment accessories and packaging used by the RMG industry ranging from labels, zippers, tags, tapes, thread, ribbon, buttons and their machinery are being displayed at the GAP Expo from Bangladesh as well as from overseas companies.
The demand for printing is rising in RMG and is identified as a fast-growing niche segment, offering scope for product diversification and value addition and related materials and machinery are being displayed at printing and packaging show.
