Flight operations resume at Shah Amanat Airport

CHATTOGRAM: Flight operations resumed at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city on Tuesday after remaining suspended for one month from July due to a series of coronavirus-induced lockdowns imposed nationwide before and after Holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Wing Commander Farhad Hossain Khan, Manager of Shah Amanat International Airport, told the FE on Tuesday that the airport at Patenga in Chattogram resumed its international flight operation after one month.

"We have got the directives to restart the international flight operation by following health safety rules," he said.

"We are wholeheartedly working to ensure the safety of passengers as well as staff of airlines and employees and staff of the airport. We have already taken all necessary measures in this regard," he added.

Shah Amanat International Airport significantly raised the level of its alertness about both incoming and outgoing international passengers with the view to preventing spread of the Covid-19 infection as the positivity rate is spiking at an alarmingly high rate across the country.

The airport authorities have already undertaken multiple measures to ensure that the government's and the WHO's health guidelines are strictly followed.

They are conducting screening of both outgoing and incoming passengers and airlines officials and staff from January 19 in 2020 which continued till today.
