National SME Fair 2018 set to begin on Wednesday aiming to promote small and medium enterprise (SME) products.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the five-day fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu addressed a press conference in Dhaka on Monday marking the fair.
SME Foundation and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) are jointly organising the fair for the sixth time.
Amu said a total of 274 SME entrepreneurs, including 183 women, will exhibit their products, including jute, agriculture and leather products, electrics and electrical items, light engineering products, handicrafts and plastic and synthetics items.
No foreign products will be allowed to sell in the fair, he added.
According to BSS, he said the SME Foundation will announce the "National SME Entrepreneurs Award-2018" at the fair.
Each winner will get Taka 100,000, a trophy and a certificate, Amu told journalists.
"There will be a sellers-buyers meeting booths, media centre and information stall besides the display of SME products and blood donation programme will also be arranged at the fair venue," he said.
The minister informed that three seminars on the promotion of SME entrepreneurs and SME products will be held during the fair.
The fair will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm for visitors and there will be no entry fee.
