FBCCI urges Chinese businessmen to invest more in Bangladesh

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) called on Chinese businessmen to invest more in Bangladesh considering the investment-friendly environment in the country.

Senior vice president of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim made the call at the '13th China-South Asia Business Forum' held in Kunming, China, recently.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and People's Government of Yunnan Province organised the event.

The theme of the forum was 'Interconnection, Sharing and Win-win Cooperation'.

In his presentation, the FBCCI leader highlighted the ways and means for enhancing trade and investment cooperation between China and the South Asian countries.

He said FBCCI is playing an important role in promoting trade and investment in the South Asian region as one of the members of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC).

He invited the BCIM countries to invest in the special economic zones in the field of oil refinery, pharmaceuticals, tourism and agro-based industry in Bangladesh.

Mr Fahim also urged the BCIM-member countries to import Bangladeshi readymade garments (RMG), pharmaceutical products, jute goods, leather goods, furniture, plastics and ceramics products.

He expressed his hope that Bangladesh could reduce the huge trade gap with the BCIM countries by tapping the existing business potential.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FBCCI and CCPIT-Ningxia was signed at the forum in order to boost cooperation in the field of trade and investment.
