The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will set up a trade centre in Dubai aiming to boost bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As part of the move, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Bangladesh Business Council (BBC) of Dubai and the FBCCI on Friday last in Dubai.
President of FBCCI Md Jashim Uddin and founder President of BBC-Dubai Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
As per the agreement, BBC-Dubai will co-operate in setting up the FBCCI trade centre in Dubai.
The FBCCI will undertake activities for coordinating and promoting trade and investment and commerce between Bangladesh and the UAE.
Besides, the FBCCI trade centre will work to strengthen business relations with other countries by using Dubai as a hub.
The trade centre will also provide various types of assistance to the UAE businessmen interested in investing in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam was present as the chief guest at the signing ceremony.
