The country's apex chamber aims to brand Bangladesh as a 'New Bangladesh' at six-month-long Dubai Expo 2020 scheduled to begin on October 01 next.
Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, a member of parliament and former president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), will act as 'Business Focal Person' at the expo.
FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin disclosed this at a special meeting of the commerce ministry with private sectors, organised by the ministry on the occasion of Dubai Expo 2020.
The meeting was held at the commerce ministry with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair on Wednesday. Commerce secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh moderated the event.
President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Rizwan Rahman and top leaders of different trade bodies attended the meeting.
The commerce minister said the 180-day exhibition could play a vital role in highlighting the strengths of Bangladesh's economy and brightening the country's image.
FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said, "Necessary steps have already been taken to highlight all the potential sectors of the country at the Dubai Expo. A specialised committee is working to this end."
He expressed the hope that global entrepreneurs would see a new strong Bangladesh in the global exhibition.
