Trade between Bangladesh and India through Benapole land port has been put on a suspension since Wednesday morning due to Kali Puja- a religious festival of the Hindu community.
Kartik Chakrawarty, general secretary of Benapole C&F Staff Welfare Association, said the export and import activities between the two countries remained suspended since Wednesday morning as there is a holiday on Indian side due to Kali Puja.
However, the internal activities at Benapole port are normal, as per a news agency report.
Uttam Chakma, assistant commissioner of Benapole Customs House, said hundreds of goods-laden trucks remained stranded at Petrapole port due to the holiday.
