The government is set to launch open-market sale (OMS) of key essential items today (Monday) to keep its prices within the buying capacity of the common people during Eid-ul-Azha.
Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a state-owned agency, would sell essential commodities in different parts of the country, using 187 trucks including 35 in Dhaka, 10 in Chattogram, five each in divisional cities and two each district towns.
The OMS programme is scheduled to be launched in the country today. Sugar, soybean oil, lentils and gram will be sold through trucks, according to the TCB.
Soybean oil would be sold at Tk 85 per litre while Tk 52 has been fixed for each kilogram of sugar, Tk 50 for lentils and Tk 40 for gram, according to a press release issued by TCB.
A consumer can buy maximum four kgs of sugar, four kgs of lentils and five litres of soybean oil from trucks, dealers or TCB sale centres.
