Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Monday asked Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to follow global standards in testing products in order to compete with the international market.
“BSTI can help strengthen Bangladeshi products in the global market by fixing and maintaining standard of goods as practised globally,” he said.
Amu came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion on occasion of World Standards Day held at the BSTI headquarters in the capital.
The minister said compliance of international standards will help enable access of local products in global market in the era of fourth industrial revolution and strengthen the economy by expanding.
This year, the BSTI, a national standards body and its regional offices are observing the day with various activities with the theme “International Standards and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.
Director General of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Sardar Abul Kalam chaired the function while Additional Secretary of Industry Ministry Begum Parag was present as the special guest.
