DUBAI, Nov 7 (Gulf News): Emirates and flydubai passengers can now fly to more places on a single ticket, with the launch of additional destinations on Tuesday.
Emirates confirmed that 16 new destinations, including those in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Russia and Nepal, have just been added to its shared network with the budget carrier.
Flyers can secure their tickets through the airline's website, contact centres or travel agents for trips starting from tomorrow, November 8, 2017.
The Dubai-based carrier announced in July that it is joining forces with flydubai to scale up operations and accelerate growth. Under the partnership, both airlines continue to be managed independently, but the new tie-up has consequently opened up more rewards to passengers.
The Emirates airline and flydubai announced on Tuesday they are adding 16 new destinations under their codeshare partnership, which was announced in July this year.
The destinations include cities in Slovakia, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Turkey, Russia, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, among others, with the codeshare effective on travel from November 8.
In a joint statement, Tim Clark, Emirates' president, said that nearly 14,000 sectors have been ticketed during the first week of operating the codeshare with flydubai. He added that Emirates has seen "strong demand for travel" from Europe and the US to South Asian destinations.
Under the partnership, Emirates Skywards members can earn Skyward miles and tier miles on codeshare flights.
The carriers said that "further benefits for members of each airline's frequent flyer and loyalty programmemes will be announced in due course."
The latest codeshare of 16 new destinations comes on top of a codeshare on 29 routes announced last month. Emirates at the time said it will codeshare on 29 routes operated by flydubai, expanding its network across three continents.
