Eco-friendly goods appeal to visitors at industrial fair

Various types of jute products received positive response from local and international customers on the sixth day of the 1st National Industrial Fair-2019 on Friday.

The fair began in the city aiming to showcase local products and expand their market globally.

The exhibitors are selling and showcasing eco-friendly bags, showpieces, shoes, tissue boxes, notebooks, penholders, key rings and other environment-friendly stuff at the fair which began on Sunday.

They are also showcasing agricultural processed food, leather goods, electrical and electronic apparatus, light engineering, IT products, plastic and synthetic goods, handicrafts and designer wear at the fair.

The Ministry of Industries is organising the fair scheduled to end on Monday.

Both organisers and participants expressed satisfaction as they received good response from local and foreign customers.

“Jute products are the main attraction to local and overseas customers, so we have brought variations in the products to meet their ever-changing taste”, they said.

Both sales and pre-orders are good and it is expected to increase in the remaining days, they added.

Some 300 entrepreneurs from small, medium and large cottage and handicraft enterprises are taking part in the nine-day exposition.

Rana Pratap Paul, an employee of BRB Hospital Limited, told the FE that he likes eco-friendly products and bought a jute handbag.

Everyone should be enthusiastic about jute products as they are eco-friendly, he added.

Syeda Selima Azad, proprietor of GODHULI C.B.P., said she has received huge response from the buyers and secured an order from South Africa.

Khondoker Mostafizur Rahman, additional secretary of Ministry of Industries, said the ministry is promoting jute products as the global demands are on the rise for the eco-friendly items.
