A two-day 'E-commerce Promotional Expo' has started in Dhaka aiming to boost local businesses in local and international market.
Senior Vice-President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Kamrul Islam inaugurated the event at Khazana Gardenia Grand Hall in Gulshan in the capital on Friday, said a press release.
Secretary General of Association of Mobile Telephone Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) TIM Nurul Kabir was present as special guest, reports BSS.
Kamrul Islam said there are huge clients for the e-commerce sector in Bangladesh as more than 85.5 million internet users and about 150 million mobile users in the country.
“E-commerce business is flourishing day by day in the country, but it needs a platform. For a suitable platform, we need adequate digital infrastructure,” he added.
Chief Executive Officer of the Platinum Events Junayet H Khan said the scope of expansion of e-commerce in Bangladesh is truly huge but to take proper advantage of this opportunity various infrastructural and systematic improvements must take place including quality assurance and policy guidelines.
About 60 top online shops of Bangladesh from five categories, like clothing, shoes, make-up, accessories and home ware items, are exhibiting their products in the expo.
