Digital Haat launched on Tuesday

Countrywide Digital Haat (market) for sacrificial animals was launched on Tuesday to curb the spread of coronavirus ahead of the coming Eid-ul Azha.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim inaugurated the online cattle market through a virtual ceremony for selling and buying cattle by maintaining physical distancing.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak chaired the function.

This online haat will be run under the joint management of the ICT Division and the E-commerce Association Bangladesh (e-CAB).

The link of the haat is https://digitalhaat.net/. Buyers and sellers can call a fixed phone number 09614102030 to know any information from the call centre. Even they lodge their complaints to the number.

Speaking at the function as the chief guest, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said through this digital market, on the one hand, the sellers will get a fair price while on the other hand, the buyers will get the assurance of buying the right animal.

People are getting this opportunity of buying sacrificial animals from their respective residences by keeping themselves safe as they do not have to go to the market amid the surge of coronavirus in the country.

If the country were not digitally capable today, it would be difficult to take such an initiative to give people such protection through this online market, the minister added.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that a total of 241 marginal haats have been connected to e-countrywide integrated online platform through 1,843 online shops in the country.
