The government has decided to ask e-commerce platform Dhamaka and its payment gateway SSL to submit a detailed list of affected customers including respective observations within seven days, officials said.
It has also asked to provide the amount of total liabilities of the e-commerce company, they added.
The decisions came from a virtual meeting, organised by the Ministry of Commerce on Monday on latest status of the online shopping site.
A process is underway to ask Dhamaka and SSL for submitting a detailed list of customers, who paid in advance for products - but did not get ordered goods against their payments, an official said.
According to the Bangladesh Bank's Financial Intelligence Unit, Dhamaka had a total of Tk 9.36 billion in its eight accounts, paid by the customers. Of the amount, over Tk 9.35 billion has been drawn, and the rest has been deposited.
Currently, over Tk 2.14 billion has been stuck with different service-providing firms, including SSL, shurjoMukhi, Foster, bKash, Nagad, and Southeast Bank.
Of the amount, over Tk 1.65 billion of Qcoom online shopping, paid by its customers against ordered goods, has been stuck with Foster Payments. Qcoom has already started refunding money to its customers.
Over Tk 485 million has been stuck with other payment gateways, according to a central bank letter.
