A two-day workshop and orientation course, aiming to impart training on family planning to workers, nurses, paramedics and service providers at readymade garment (RMG) factories, began in the capital on Wednesday.
Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), Marie Stopes Bangladesh and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) have jointly organised the event, says a statement.
Dr Md Shamsul Karim, Programme Manager of DGFP, attended the inaugural ceremony of the workshop and delivered the welcome speech. Imrul Hasan Khan, General Manager (Special Programmes) of Marie Stopes Bangladesh, was also present and spoke, focusing on the aim of the workshop.
Dr Annie Vestjens, First Secretary (SRHR and Gender), the Embassy of The Netherlands in Dhaka, and Md Homaun Kabir Khan Shilpi, Vice President (Finance) of BKMEA, joined the programme as the special guests.
Joint Secretary, Director (finance) and Line Director (FP-FSD) of the DGFP, Pranab Kumar Neogi, was also present and delivered concluding speech of the first day’s programme.
