Deposit through agent banking outlets reached Tk 20.12 billion by the end of the past fiscal year (FY18), according to the latest statistics of the central bank.
It showed that on quarterly basis, deposit increased by 23.15 per cent in June-end over the deposit of the March-end in FY18.
More than two-third of the total deposit of the agent banking outlets was concentrated to the rural areas.
The amount of total deposits in the rural areas stood at Tk 16.58 billion by the end of June while it was Tk 3.54 billion in the urban areas of the country in the same period.
Bangladesh Bank data further added that some Tk 1.37 billion disbursed as loans through the agent banks in the past fiscal year.
