The commerce ministry has warned the online marketplace Daraz Bangladesh, a concern of Alibaba Group, for its 11:11 ('Eleven Eleven') campaign, officials said.
It has asked the country's largest online marketplace to refrain from running such campaigns.
The ministry also instructed the e-commerce entity to take prior permission to operate such campaigns.
At the same time, Daraz has been asked to submit a detailed report on the 11.11 campaign in seven days, said the officials of the ministry.
The central digital commerce cell of the ministry on Wednesday issued a warning letter to the managing director of Daraz.
Earlier, the commerce ministry served a show-cause notice on Daraz as to why action would not be taken against it to protect the interest of consumers.
The ministry has issued the caution after reviewing the reply of the show-cause notice of the platform.
For the fourth time in Bangladesh, Daraz hosted Alibaba's one-day sales campaign 11.11 on November 11 this year with discounts, prizes, and lucrative offers.
