US Ambassador to Bangladesh Mercia Burnicat has said corruption still remains a challenge for companies doing business in Bangladesh.
The envoy said this while attending a press briefing on the eve of 25th edition of US trade show 2018 on Tuesday.
“Bangladesh government has taken concrete actions towards making ease of doing business indicator more favourable by improving level-playing field. But progress has not been made yet”, she added.
The ambassador said a number of challenges, such as making bidding process transparent, minimising bureaucracy, ensuring continual supply of electricity and providing roads and port facilities still need to be addressed.
“Corruption still remains a challenge for firms doing business here. I think there are a number of other areas too where progress still needs to be made,” she said.
The three-day US Trade Show will kick off on March 01 where more than 150 US companies, represented by 43 exhibitors from home and abroad will participate.
