Construction of the long-cherished modern Khulna Railway Station has been completed.
The three-storey railway station comprises three 1200 feet long platforms, a 4,000-square metre car parking space, a link corridor, footpaths and roads.
Contractor of the construction work Mosabbir Haque Biplob said they will hand over the constructed station to Bangladesh Railway Authority soon.
Project Director Md Riad Ahmed said the then caretaker government initiated the ‘Remodelling of Khulna Railway Station and Yard’ project in 2007, BSS reported.
On January 26, 2014, the Executive Committee of Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the Tk 600 million project and construction started in April 2015.
However, construction work period was extended till December 2018.
