The construction of the Bay Terminal of Chittagong seaport is likely to start this year.
The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) has sent the Draft Project Profile (DPP) to the ministry for approval. After getting the approval of DPP, the process of tender and other procedures will start.
The consulting firms Korean companies named Kunhwa Consulting & Engineering Company Limited and Deyen Yang (DY) Engineering Company Limited already submitted the master plan to the CPA.
The works of the tender and construction of the Bay Terminal will begin in July next, said officials of CPA.
Secretary of CPA Omar Faruk said, "We have submitted the DPP. We received the master plan from Korean companies. After getting the approval of DPP, the process of tender and other procedures will start."
CPA Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan said, "CPA is all set to launch the construction work of the terminal in 2023. All preparations including land acquisition and design have been taken for the construction".
The work of the project will start in 2023 and is scheduled to be completed by 2025, he said adding according to the plan the operational activities of the terminal will start in 2026."
