The City Bank Limited and Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh have jointly organised a workshop on Islamic Banking for the executives as well as officers of the bank.
They arranged the day-long workshop at the City Bank Learning Centre in Gulshan area of the capital city on Thursday.
M Azizul Huq, chairman of the executive committee of Central Shariah Board as well as The City Bank`s Shariah Supervisory Committee, joined the opening ceremony of the workshop as the chief guest.
Md Abdullah Sharif, secretary general of the Central Shariah Board, presided over the function, while Shah AbdullHannan, adviser of the Central Shariah Board, was present there.
Mahbubur Rahman, deputy managing director (DMD) & also chief financial officer of the bank, and Md Nazmul Arif Khan, DMD & head of ICC, the City Bank, were present at the event as special guests.
Mr M Azizul Huq said that Islamic banks and financial institutions have been working to liberate society from the curse of interest through introducing interest-free financial operations.
Interest based economic system is at the root of financial discrimination and exploitation. Implementation of Islamic economic system only can bring desirable change to the society, according to a statement.
Mr. Rahman called upon the participants to flourish the Islamic banking system through utilising acquired knowledge in their professional lives side by side with spreading it among their colleagues.
Mr. Arif Khan said the Islamic banking is now an established reality. He inspired the participants to build up a peaceful society through an interest-free banking system.
Mr. Sharif assured of extending all sorts of possible co-operation to the city bank as member bank of CSBIB to develop human resource through Central Shariah Board for more acceleration of the Islamic banking stream.
Mr. Hannan distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop.
