State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu on Thursday urged garment factory owners to clear the Eid-ul-Azha bonus of their workers by August 16.
He also asked them to pay part of their salaries for the running month by August 19 after discussions with the workers, reports UNB.
The state minister came up with the call while addressing the 37th meeting of the crisis management core committee, which was formed to oversee the overall situation of industries and factories and labour unrest, at the conference room of his ministry.
The meeting decided to grant the leave of the RMG workers in phases during Eid to keep the production at factories normal and avoid traffic congestion on highways as well, said Chunnu.
Law enforcement agencies have also been urged to remain alert so that no unrest is created among the garment workers, said he said.
