Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said chemical factories will be relocated from the capital soon.
"The government is working to relocate the chemical factories as soon as possible," he added.
The minister said this while addressing the opening ceremony of a two-day conference organised by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) at the Small and Cottage Industries Training Institute (SCITI) auditorium in the city on Thursday.
Amu said the government has taken a mega plan to establish economic zones, and as part of the plan, two leather factories would be set up in Barishal soon while a BSCIC industrial zone would be establish in Sirajganj.
Industries secretary Mohammad Abdullah spoke on the occasion as special guest with BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hasan Muhammad Iftikhar in the chair, reports BSS.
