Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Chattogram awarded eight of its women officials for their outstanding performances in collection of value-added tax (VAT).
They are: Deputy commissioners Fatema Khairunnahar Nur, Anurupa Deb, revenue officer Aunamika Mitra, assistant revenue officers Rawnak Jahan and Jiasmin Akter, office assistant Atoshi De, telephone operator Priyanka Chowdhuri and Sipoy Jannat Ivy.
Md Akbar Hossain, commissioner of the VAT zone, appreciated the role of women in all sectors of the country.
A discussion meeting arranged in the auditorium of the VAT office on occasion of the International Women's Day focused on the role of women in revenue earning.
Deputy commissioner Fatima Khairun Nur presented a keynote paper at the programme. Of the total 373 officials, 54 women officials are working in the VAT zone.
