Value of e-commerce transaction based on debit and credit cards crossed Tk 7 billion in July-February period of the current fiscal year (FY18).
Bangladesh Bank statistics showed that the amount of card-based e-commerce transactions altogether stood at Tk 7.79 billion during the period under review.
The total transaction of e-commerce based on these two types of payment cards was Tk 7.24 billion in the past fiscal year (FY17).
Industry insiders, however, believe that the value is significantly underreported. They are of the view that e-commerce in the country has been flourishing for the last couple of years and annual estimated transaction stands at Tk 9 billion now.
