Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) will observe the ‘World Metrology Day’ to aware the mass people in importance of measurements in everyday life.
The theme for this year is ‘Constant Evolution of the International System of Units’.
The national standards body will celebrate the international day with different programme. The BSTI will arrange discussion meetings at its regional offices as a part of the celebration.
President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu MP, and Industry secretary Mohammad Abdullah have given separate messages on the occasion.
Martin Milton, director of the international bureau of weights and measures, has given message considering the day.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will air special programmes highlighting the significance of the day, says a media release.
On the other hand, different important places of capital city are being decorated by banner, festoon and placards.
The BSTI is going to organise a discussion meeting at its head office in the capital on Sunday. The Industry Minister expresses his will to present as a chief guest on that occasion.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Additional Secretary of the industry ministry Md Dabirul Islam, and FBCCI President Md Sahfiul Islam Mohiuddin will present there as special guest.
Director General (DG) of BSTI Sardar Abul Kalam will preside over the discussion meeting.
