BR introduces mobile app

The Bangladesh Railway (BR) introduced on Sunday a mobile app named 'Rail Sheba' to provide e-ticketing and other services smoothly online.

Railway Minister Advocate Md Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the app service at a function at the Kamalapur Railway Station in the city. The newly-introduced mobile app will help the passengers purchase tickets of all intercity trains.

Besides, they will be able to know about the availability of tickets, train routes, schedule of trains and their stoppages at stations. The system will prevent black marketing of train tickets as well.

A passenger using android or IOS based mobile phones can purchase train tickets after downloading those from 'App Store' and 'Google Platy Store' and completing user registration.

Passengers can put forward their recommendations on rail journey or register any complaints to the BR authority through the new mobile solution (App Rail Sheba).

Inaugurating the app service as the chief guest, Md Nurul Islam Sujan said the passengers will not face any trouble while purchasing train tickets during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

He said during the Eid, passengers can purchase 50 percent of total tickets online (App Rail Sheha).

The rest 50 per cent tickets can be purchased from Kamalapur Railway Station, Gazipur railway station, (Joydevpur railway station) Banani and Airport railway stations, Mirpur Police Convention Centre and Fulbaria in the capital.

He said a new passenger train from Dhaka to Panchagarh will be launched before the Eid-ul-Fitr.

"We will soon launch Dhaka- Benapole train service after Eid-ul-Fitr," he added.

He called upon all to come forward for ensuring a comfortable and economically rational rail journey.

The minister stressed the need for checking passengers' harassment at Kamalapur Railway Station. "We want to make the railway a profitable entity," he said.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak as the special guest attended the event. High officials of BR were present.
