BGMEA received the 'WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards'

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has been awarded the ‘WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards’ in Sustainable Growth/Circular Economy Award category for using ‘Biometric Identity and Worker Information Management System’ in 25th WCIT (World Congress on Information Technology).

Md. Shahid-Ul-Munir, Vice Chairman, WITSA Asia Pacific handed over this prestigious award to BGMEA.

Among other WITSA Chairman Mr Yannis Sirros and Secretary-General Dr Jim H Poisant were connected virtually.

The Director of BGMEA Mr. Rajiv Chowdhury and CEO of Systech Digital Limited M Rashidul Hasan received the award on behalf of BGMEA.

World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) is the leading recognised voice of the global digital technology industry, whose members from over 80 countries and economies represent more than 90 per cent of the world’s ICT market. The WITSA Awards recognise the entities that made the most significant contributions to mankind in 2021.

It is to be noted here that in 2013, the ‘Biometric Identity and Worker Information Management System (Worker Database)’ software is implemented throughout the country with the initiative of BGMEA to ensure all the facilities to the owners and workers of the growing ready-made garment industry.

It’s a unique software system, which stores biometric fingerprints and photos for combined biometric ID, jobs, and all other information of all workers in the factory in the local and cloud server databases, which are used later on to identify and confirm with all other factory workers.

This database provides all kinds of information related to Service books, Insurance, UD, Cash incentives, and other purposes in one click to the garment industry personnel.

Currently, this software is being used by about 2,500 factories of BGMEA for more than 4.0 million workers every day. Local organisation Tiger IT Bangladesh and Systech Digital Limited have technically assisted in developing, installing, training, and maintaining this unique software system.
