BGMEA leaders seek Chattogram police help

CHATTOGRAM: The newly-elected leadership of BGMEA in Chattogram sought the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) cooperation to maintain law and order just before Eid in Chattogram. BGMEA leaders and CMP officials held a meeting in this regard on Tuesday.

Addressing the meeting First Vice President of BGMEA Sayed Najurul Islam said, "The RMG sector is running amid the corona outbreak in Bangladesh due to the good decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Many garment factories are yet to pay the wages and allowances and we are afraid. So, we request all to pay the wages before Eid and also seek cooperation to maintain the law and order situation here in Chattogram before Eid."

He said, "We are working hard to continue the shipment and save the RMG industry during corona outbreak. I request CMP commissioner to control any type of turmoil or unwanted situation before Eid in the RMG sector."

Commissioner of CMP Saleh Mohammed Tanvir said, "There is no unwanted occurrence in RMG sector in Chattogram till today. I hope, the owners will pay the wages of workers and there will be a peaceful situation here in Chattogram before Eid. Police will help control the law and order in the sector."

The meeting was held at CMP Commissioner's office at Dampara Police Line in the port city. The meeting was chaired by First Vice President of BGMEA Sayed Najurul Islam.
