BGMEA President Faruque Hassan inaugurated the digital “BGMEA Membership Management System” (MSS) on Tuesday at a programme held at its headquarters in Uttara.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) launched a digital membership management system.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan inaugurated the digital “BGMEA Membership Management System” (MSS) on Tuesday at a programme held at its headquarters in Uttara, according to a statement.

The trade body will receive membership applications, related documents and payments through a website (bgmeamember.com).

Besides, existing member factories will be able to update their membership information, make payments and generate e-certificate of their membership through the system, the statement added.

The online-based system will also help the existing members of BGMEA to easily manage their membership information online, according to a statement.

Speaking at the event, Mr Hassan said they have launched the system to evolve with the available technologies to keep pace with the changes and remain competitive in the global market.

He said BGMEA has taken several initiatives to digitise services for its members, including workers’ biometric database and UD automation to ensure quick, efficient and smooth services to all member factories which bring billions of dollars for Bangladesh as export earnings.

The digital repository can be utilised to design significant interventions and formulate policies for the workers’ well-being.

“All these initiatives of BGMEA are in line with the government’s vision of Digital Bangladesh. BGMEA is adopting digital technologies to improve and streamline business procedures, and thus retaining competitiveness in an increasingly competitive digital landscape,” Mr Hassan added.
