The export-import activities between Bangladesh and India through Benapole land port resumed on Tuesday, after a six-day vacation.

Trucks carrying imported goods started entering Benapole from India from 8:00am.

Aminul Islam, acting director (traffic), of Benapole port authority, said the export-import activities through the port had remained suspended due to Ashura and Durga Puja vacations for five days from September 27 to October 1, reports UNB.

Besides, the port activities on the Indian side remained closed on October 2, marking Mahatma Gandhi's 148th birth anniversary.

"The official activities in every section of the customs house resumed this morning," the official added.

Mofizur Rahman Sujan, president of Benapole Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents' Association, said several thousand goods-laden trucks, including perishable items, had remained stranded on the Indian side due to the prolonged holidays.
